Located just a stone's throw from the Hôtel de Ville and the Marais district, Le Coupe Gorge restaurant, with its antique parquet flooring, dressed stonework and red velvet banquettes, exudes the flavour of old Paris and the pleasures of fine dining. The restaurant was founded in 1895 on rue de la Coutellerie, a street that owes its name to the many active cutlers. Its current name is more recent, no doubt due to the offbeat humour of one of its previous owners! Far from being a trap, Le Coupe Gorge offers a warm atmosphere, typical of old Parisian establishments, and a friendly welcome.

    Here’s a smoother and more natural version of your review: The overall experience was fantastic. Despite some reviews saying otherwise, we found the staff to be very friendly and attentive throughout our visit. As others have mentioned, the chef sometimes personally brings out the food, but this definitely did not increase the waiting time. Speaking of the food — it was amazing. The dishes arrived fairly quickly, and everything tasted excellent. After we finished our meal, we were also given a small surprise: the restaurant’s homemade nougat. It was absolutely delicious, and I highly recommend buying some to take home as well.
